El ensamble se fundó en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Massachussets y, desde sus inicios, ha buscado expandir los límites de la voz humana y su relación con el sonido, el espacio y el cuerpo. Esto les ha llevado a introducir nuevas tecnologías en sus procesos interpretativos y a colaborar con artistas que crean diálogos entre diferentes disciplinas como Caroline Shaw, Julia Wolfe, David Lang, Missy Mazzoli y William Brittelle, entre muchos otros. Para la apertura de la Temporada Nacional de Conciertos, traen un programa que contiene música de su último álbum, Rough Magic, que recibió el Grammy como Mejor Interpretación de ensamble pequeño/música de cámara, además de música de Angélica Negrón y Wally Gunn.
